A good vision statement pulls people together, keeps them coordinated, helps them to be faithful stewards of who God has gifted them corporately to be, and how He has especially inspired them to minister in their time and place. Like a good sermon, it is an application of a timeless call, a helpful and encouraging interpretation of the particular way a local gathering is to carry out the universal calls to make disciples, break bread, pray, fellowship with one another, live out the teaching of the Apostles, collaborate in the miraculous power......

Why do you enter into a conversation? Conversation–What We Care About, With Those We Love For me there are at least two motivations for conversation. First, I may get involved because I am interested in the subject and I want to learn more or contribute my knowledge. Secondly, I may join in conversation because I care about the speakers and I simply want to connect with them. In other words, it’s about content and community. Typically, one or the other motive will me started in a conversation, but it’s almost always a......

We marry and form friendships for just that reason. We escape from families and friendships because they violate that ideal. My first post was about conversation—the exchange of words about a shared interest and how that forms community or creates connection with people you like or love. The hope for home starts with conversation—with God and one another. One......

While our vision statement is intended to describe what we look like when we are truly being who God has made us and anointed us to be, a mission statement’s purpose is to more precisely describe what we do, as we are being ourselves. As we noted in the introduction to our vision statement, there is a universal call to ministry which the Church must fulfill throughout time. However, in a particular time, through the unique anointings of a local assembly of Christ followers, that mission will be expressed in distinctive ways–which......
